Bathroom cleaning checklist
Clean your bathroom in a practical order, from clear shelves to a dry floor. Prepare your supplies, protect finishes and save the list to your notes or Unload.

[ ] Prepare your supplies and ventilation
    Gather separate soft cloths for different areas, a non-scratch sponge, gloves, a rubbish bag and a cleaner suitable for your surfaces. Open a window if available or switch on the extractor. Never mix cleaning products.
[ ] Clear the bath edges, basin and floor
    Put bottles in a basin or basket and remove the bath mat and towels. You can now clean the whole surface without working around every bottle.
[ ] Discard empty packaging and collect rubbish
    Check the shower and shelf for empty bottles. Set nearly empty products aside to finish first, and write down anything you need to replace.
[ ] Remove hair and loose dust
    Pick up hair around the drain, under the vanity and in corners before washing. Loose debris is easier to collect before it gets wet.
[ ] Wipe shelves and reachable upper surfaces
    Work from the top down. Do not stand on the bath edge; leave high areas until you have a stable stepladder and a dry floor.
[ ] Clean the mirror
    Apply a suitable cleaner to a cloth and wipe the mirror, including the splash marks along the bottom. Avoid soaking edges and fittings.
[ ] Wash the basin and around the tap
    Remove soap residue and clean behind the tap and around the drain opening. Rinse as directed until no foam or slippery film remains.
[ ] Clean and dry the tap
    Check that your cleaner is approved for the tap finish. Use a soft cloth, follow the stated contact time and dry off droplets after rinsing.
[ ] Wash the bath or shower tray
    Identify the surface material first. For acrylic, use a manufacturer-approved cleaner and a soft sponge; abrasive pads can scratch it.
[ ] Wipe splash-zone tiles and the shower screen
    Focus on splashed areas near the shower and basin. Check compatibility with grout and any glass coating, then rinse away residue and remove excess water.
[ ] Clean the removable drain cover
    Remove only parts designed for routine cleaning. Clear hair and rinse the cover. If drainage is still slow, make a separate task to investigate the blockage.
[ ] Wipe the door handle and vanity front
    Use a clean cloth to remove fingerprints and splashes. Around the light switch, use a barely damp cloth and never spray liquid into gaps.
[ ] Replace towels and check the bath mat
    Wash dirty textiles according to their care labels. Put a clean mat back only when the floor is dry, and hang towels with room to dry.
[ ] Mop from the far corner towards the door
    Clean around vanity legs and behind the door without flooding joints. Keep the route clear until the floor dries.
[ ] Put things back and check the result
    Wipe bottle bases before replacing them. Check for residue in the basin, hair at the drain and puddles on the floor. Rinse your tools and leave them to dry.
