Wedding guest checklist What to check and think about: RSVP on time, who is invited, dress code and venue, the gift, logistics, photo rules and how to behave on the day. [ ] RSVP by the deadline Seating, catering and budget depend on numbers. \u201cProbably yes\u201d is worse than an honest no. [ ] Check exactly who is invited A plus-one and children are not automatic. Asking is awkward once; bringing an unexpected guest is awkward all evening. [ ] Ask about the dress code and the venue Grass, sand, stairs, outdoors in the evening. Heels on a lawn and a light dress in the wind are the classics. [ ] Ask about gifts and follow their preference A list or a stated preference is consideration rather than tactlessness. Go by your budget, not by rumours. [ ] Plan the journey, parking and the way back Especially if the venue is out of town and you plan to drink. A taxi at five in the morning is its own adventure. [ ] Arrive on time Late guests shift the programme and ruin the shots. Leave a margin for the journey and for finding the venue. [ ] Check the rules about photographs Filming the ceremony, posting, tagging people. It is an agreement with a photographer and family, not a whim. [ ] Settle the question of children in advance If children are not invited, that is normal and not up for debate. Arrange who will look after them. [ ] Tell them about dietary needs in advance Allergies and restrictions before the day, not at the table. Venues can usually accommodate if told in advance. [ ] Clear any speech or performance with the organiser Surprises the couple does not know about break the timing and sometimes the mood. An agreed toast is a gift; an unagreed one is a risk. [ ] Respect the format of the evening Alcohol, jokes, topics, old grievances between guests. A wedding is not the place to settle any of them. [ ] Offer specific help if you are close to them Meeting guests, moving things, collecting gifts at the end. Specifics help; \u201clet me know if you need anything\u201d does not. [ ] Post the photos as agreed And do not tag people without asking. Wedding photos are not only your memories. [ ] Do what you promised the same evening Driving, collecting, passing something on. The couple's tomorrow looks different, and asking twice will feel awkward to them. Checklist from Unload: https://unloads.me/c/wedding-guest
