Weekend trip checklist What to pack for two nights: one bag, clothes for the forecast, documents and devices, plus route planning and a short walk-through before you leave. [ ] Fix the plan: dates, travel, check-in When you leave and return, when check-in and check-out are. That decides what you can fit into the first day. [ ] Save tickets and bookings offline A screenshot or PDF on your phone beats an email: connectivity disappears exactly when you need it. [ ] Download the map and the route to your accommodation An offline city map, a pin on the address and a plan for getting in from the station. That is your first half hour. [ ] Check the forecast and pack for it One outfit per day plus a spare top and one warm layer. Shoes: the pair you travel in, plus one more at most. [ ] Fit everything into one bag For two nights a second bag is almost always unnecessary. If it does not fit, shorten the list rather than add luggage. [ ] Pack a minimal toiletry bag Travel sizes, toothbrush, deodorant and the products you genuinely use. Hotels usually cover the basics. [ ] Pack the medication you take Plus the basics: painkillers, plasters and an allergy remedy if you use one. A pharmacy is not always nearby. [ ] Charge your devices and take a power bank On a short trip the phone is your map, ticket, wallet and camera at once. A dead phone breaks all four. [ ] Check your cards and take some cash Make sure your card works in the destination country. Cash still helps in cafés, car parks and markets even where cards rule. [ ] Take the documents this trip actually needs Passport or licence, insurance, booking. For a trip abroad, check document validity in advance. [ ] Get the car ready: fuel, documents, route Check levels and tyre pressure, take your documents and a phone mount. Fill up before you leave rather than en route. [ ] Pack a kit for the child Snacks, water, wipes, a change of clothes, a familiar toy and something for the journey. All in a reachable pocket. [ ] Do a walk-through before you leave Windows, water, iron and hob, appliances unplugged, bin emptied. For two nights that is enough. [ ] Take water and a snack for the journey Especially on a long journey or an overnight one. Cheaper and faster than hunting for something at the station. [ ] Check what is open on Sunday Museums, cafés and shops keep shorter hours in many cities. Worth knowing before you go, not on arrival. [ ] Save the accommodation contacts and a backup The host's or the desk's phone number, the address in the local language and a nearby café for an early arrival. [ ] Leave room for what you bring back A bag packed to the brim on the way out becomes a problem on the way back. Leave a little space now. Checklist from Unload: https://unloads.me/c/weekend-trip
